Is that a light at the end of the 2020 Covid-19 tunnel? Surely not a train?

Could there be hope. Don’t pop the Bolli just yet but those scientists might have just dropped a rope ladder down the pit of 2020.

So we have all heard that the coronavirus vaccines are being rolled out like medicinal marzipan this month giving an early Christmas gift of hope to the wonderful key workers and vulnerable elderly in our population.

You may or may not have seen the incredibly brave Lara from Launcells Barton speaking with Boris Johnson during PM’s Q&A, if you haven’t it’s well worth watching being that Lara is the first person to speak on behalf of the UK wedding industry directly to the PM.

The result of this questioning was an optimistic “I fully expected us to be at a completely different place by Easter and a busy summer of nuptial events”. Not entirely committing to Easter as a return to unrestricted weddings, but not ruling it out either. With improvements in track and trace, rapid testing and the vaccine program there is finally a glimmer of nuptial optimism, not exactly the road-map that Lara quizzed Johnson about but definitely the best news we have had all year.

In other news, as I suspected in my previous post the Government have confirmed that there are NO restrictions on travel from any of the three tiers to another for the purpose of getting married or attending a wedding as on the the lucky 13 guests allowed. So if you live in Slough (tier 3) you CAN travel to Truro (tier 1) to get married.

My hope is that with the vaccine news weddings will gradually be allowed to increase in size from the new year until we are back to unrestricted weddings and receptions as soon as it is safe to do so…and I can see a lot of hugging and emotional photos coming next year. I for one cannot wait!
